Be pampered as the only guest of this boutique beauty in the shadows of Angkor Wat, Cambodia
If you’ve always fancied being a King in your very own palace, moreover one in an exotic locale, this one-room boutique hotel near the world-famous Angkor Wat in Cambodia, is set out to fulfill your dream. The One Hotel Angkor, awaits in one of Southeast Asia’s most charming little towns.
What at first seems like an oddly boastful name in fact turns out to be quite literally descriptive of the place. The One Hotel Angkor is named not for some outsized ambitions, like “one hotel to rule them all,” but for its fairly humble and unassuming reality — it’s a hotel with just one room, located upstairs from a café on the Passage, a pedestrian street in a youthful, bohemian neighborhood of Siem Reap.

Of course it’s an excellent room. Wide-open, loft-style, it’s furnished with a king bed, an LCD television, an iBook and iPod, and a luxurious modern bathroom, with a two-person tub and a rain shower. Outside the roof terrace is practically another room unto itself, with a daybed, a jacuzzi tub, a sound system, and an outdoor shower.

There’s a team of staffers (including a chef) on hand to take care of your every whim, from in-room spa treatments to dining al fresco out on the terrace. As for the location, there’s plenty to enjoy about this corner of Siem Reap — this is above all a vibrant neighborhood, best suited to those self-directed travelers who don’t mind exploring a bit. And of course if you’re here at all, you’re either here to see the temples at Angkor, or you’re enough of an old Cambodia hand that you don’t need suggestions from us.
